Partners for Youth with Disabilities

Through the end of December, Change of Color will be donating 10% of all sales to Partners for Youth with Disabilities (PYD).

PYD is an incredible non-profit organization that empowers youth with disabilities (www.pyd.org).  While its headquarters is in Boston, MA, its reach is far beyond that region.

Change of Color and PYD share pillars in our respective missions.  We both embrace diversity and inclusion with outreach to a national audience. PYD does this by providing transformative mentoring programs, youth development opportunities, and inclusion expertise. It has provided inclusion training and technical assistance to more than 100 businesses, corporations, and organizations across the country and internationally to help them become more inclusive towards people living with disabilities. Last year alone, it served and engaged almost 1,000 youth, families and individuals in mentoring and inclusion programs.

PYD serves youth, ages six to twenty-four, with a broad range of disabilities. PYD’s cornerstone program, Mentor Match, was founded in 1985, at a time when mentoring was gaining mainstream attention as a way to support at-risk youth. Despite the attention given to the field, youth with disabilities were overlooked and excluded from mentoring efforts. By focusing specifically on youth with disabilities, PYD became – and remains – a national leader. Other PYD program offerings include a health- and transition-focused program (Making Healthy Connections), an inclusive theater program (Access to Theatre), an inclusive job-readiness program (YEP), an e-mentoring platform, and an online inclusion training and resources network.

Check out this article and photos from PYD's recent Access To Theatre Summer Performance as well as a blog article that highlights a Mentor Match of its Campus Career Connect e-mentoring platform.

Change of Color is proud to support them this quarter! If you want us to support a non-profit doing amazing things for kids, email us at favnp@changeofcolor.com
